Melissa Eagan, pediatric orthopedic nurse supervisor in the WashU Medicine Department of Orthopedic Surgery, has been with WashU since 2014. She is passionate about providing compassionate, family-centered care and supporting children during what can be stressful and uncertain times.

I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. I’m inspired daily by the collaborative spirit of the team I work with, all committed to excellence in care.”

Eagan credits WashU’s supportive and mission-driven culture for deepening her dedication to her role. Collaboration and integrity are central to her work, and they are evident in her work within WashU and beyond.

“Beyond her clinical expertise, Melissa is deeply committed to our community, whether volunteering with Tri My Best Athletes or serving as a dedicated champion through World Pediatrics,” said Kim Cordia, nurse administrator for the Department of Orthopedics.

Since 2018, Eagan has been an essential member of the World Pediatrics team, traveling to various parts of the world, including the Caribbean, to assist orthopedic surgeons. Before each trip, she dedicates countless hours to reviewing patient charts, X-rays and clinical histories to ensure that every child receives the highest level of care.

Melissa is not only a skilled nurse but also an inspiring role model, athlete, friend, wife to Tim, and mother of two—Bobby and Aubrey—who have proudly volunteered alongside her at the Tri My Best Triathlon. Her dedication to her patients, colleagues and community embodies everything a WashU employee should strive to be.

Outside of work, Eagan enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and children, often traveling for their sports and college visits. She also loves running, which she says helps her stay active and clear-minded.
