- Deputy Chief Information Officer
Information Technology
Since 2023, Jen Stedelin, has served as WashU’s Information Technology’s (IT) deputy chief information officer for academic and administrative technologies. On a day-to-day basis, Stedelin oversees and provides support for IT’s Academic and Administrative Technologies team. From strategic planning to fostering collaboration amongst departments to guiding teams to delivery technology solutions, her focus remains on the university’s mission.
“I’m driven by the impact technology can have in supporting and enhancing teaching, research, and the overall student experience,” Stedelin said. “Every day, I work on initiatives that streamline processes and develop tools that empower faculty, staff and students to thrive. Knowing that our efforts directly contribute to WashU’s academic excellence and operational success keeps me motivated.”
As a university-wide office, WashU IT is responsible for needs across our campuses. In the middle of their four-year strategic plan, ImpacT, Stedelin keeps her team focused on their vision and guiding principles: manage WashU’s IT services with robust security, intentional governance and being forward-thinking to encourage innovation and customer-centric service to support the institution’s mission. With one of the largest teams on campus, her leadership is vital to our collective success.
Transparency, collaboration and recognition have been key. I focus on communicating the ‘why’ behind our work, so the team understands the bigger picture. I’m fortunate to have a great team that loves to collaborate and celebrate each other’s successes. Their enthusiasm is infectious and helps us build momentum and stronger team bonds.
